At the Expanding Horizons with XR conference at Bellevue College, MXT Reality CEO Jeff Rayner explored how immersive technologies can support meaningful learning outcomes. In his keynote, Designing with Purpose, he emphasized a critical principle: technology should be the last decision we make, not the first. When XR tools are aligned with pedagogy, context, and learner needs, immersive experiences move beyond novelty to create powerful opportunities for simulation, empathy, and exploration.

This is an interesting question, that is not easy to answer. On one hand, VR can give you unique experiences, especially to those who otherwise don't have the means to try them, it also offers you superpowers, and is disability free - e.g. you typically don't see a wheelchair on a metaverse avatar.
