What file types do you work with?
We handle all any kind of input file, yet the most common ones we deal with are listed below:
-
.3DM see .rws
-
.CAD is from Autocad and typically is a 3D wireframe without textures and materials. Most commonly used in architectural solutions
-
.DAE (digital exchange asset) is a 3D file interchange format that is supported by most 3D editing software and a number of game engines, yet does not support embedded materials.
-
.FBX is commonly considered the most flexible and understood format for storing 3D models, animations, materials and textures. This is our preferred input file type.
-
.glTF (GL Transmission Format) is often called the JPEG of 3D. Data is optimized for efficient loading using WebGL and to other APIs. It supports PBR materials.
-
.glb is a glTF packed into one file with all its assets.
-
.OBJ is almost as common as FBX and is very well integrated into most 3D software. It's data format represents geometry alone, such as the position of each vertex, normals, UV texture position, etc. OBJ is one of the oldest file formats and similarly one of the most widely supported. OBJ outputs also produce a .mtl file that defines color and opacity.
-
.rvt is a Revit file, which is commonly used for high end architecture solutions
-
.rws and .3dm are Rhino file types usually used for architecture solutions
-
.stl (stereolithography) The most basic format of all. Simply put, it's just a list of triangles. Widely supported and suitable for 3D printing.
-
.usdz is an Augmented Reality file format supported by Apple and can be viewed with the help of iOS devices running iOS12 and higher
